I was missing the whole blog experience so I thought that I'd start a new one. For those of you who have arrived here from my old NZ themed blog, (http://www.traineekiwi.blogspot.com/) thanks for making the switch to this one ! I thought long and hard about continuing the other blog but as I was now writing about life back in the UK, it didn't seem appropriate to continue using my old site. If (when?) I go back to NZ, I'll revert back to that one but for the meantime, this new site will suffice. Did any of that make sense ??
I've had a rough few months and I think the medical profession would say that I've been suffering from depression since I arrived back (not that I asked them of course. I'm a bloke!). After British Airways eventually deposited me at Manchester airport following a 23 hour flight (minus my baggage - they were apparently on an adventure all of their own). I spent some 3 months living at Mum and Dad's for which I am eternally grateful for their patience, generosity, consideration and general tolerance. My tenants left my house in January 2007 and I must admit, left it in very good order, much to my relief ! The only issues I had were that I had lost a couple of ridge tiles in the January storms and I managed to blow up my washing machine within days of returning home. Finding work in the UK was a fairly straightforward affair and it took only a matter of days to start a contract job paying good money. Unfortunately, the organisation I was working for, an Internationally known brand, was dreadful and the less said the better. I survived there for the full 3 months of the contract but I could happily have walked after a couple of days. I actually tended my resignation after a fortnight but had it rejected by the Management ! Christmas was spent in France before I started work in Manchester on another contract. As at the time of writing, the contract has been extended 3 times. In addition to my Christmas in France, I've also attended numerous concerts, visited Latvia, visited the Lake District, had a further weekend in France, bought another kayak and have done a couple of paranormal investigations. Not bad for a guy suffering with depression hey? I will however reveal more of each event in future posts so as to bring the story upto date and we'll see where we go from there. With regards to the future, I'm really keen to spend more weekends in Europe and I've a desire to go to the Channel Islands at some point. It's been several years since I was there last and I've had some terrific times previously.
Anyway, I must crack on and start putting together some meaningful posts so until the next time.....
